Chad Ettmueller Can Still Eat a Double Meat Wicked®

You may recall this little story about a Georgia man named Chad Ettmueller, who dislocated his jaw while trying to bite into a double-meat Wicked sandwich. (Did we mention he works for a company that structures large lawsuit settlements?) The story has received a lot of media attention since early March, and, now, Christopher Quinn of the Atlanta Journal Constitution has written this follow-up story. We’re happy to report that after everything he’s been through, Chad isn’t afraid to tackle a Wicked.

Which Wich Opens 3 New Locations: Springfield, Coralville, and Charlotte

This has been a vibeacious summer for Which Wich! We’re opening new stores—and spreading the vibe—all over the country. Charlotte, North Carolina, is getting its first Which Wich (1600 E. Woodlawn Rd., Ste. 260), in the Park Town Village Shopping Center (above), just a five-minute drive from SouthPark, Myers Park, and Dilworth. A second Which Wich is opening in Springfield, Missouri (1155 E. Battlefield St.), just three miles down the road from the first, near St. John and Cox South hospitals. Coralville, Iowa, is also getting a Which Wich (925 25th Ave.), so folks in the Iowa City area can get their Wicked on at two convenient locations.

Congratulations to the Winners of the First-ever Flag Your Bag Contest

The “likes” are in, and congratulations are in order for Caroline Kohler Radtke, Dan Gremminger, and Bhavna Sharma, who came in first, second, and third in the inaugural Which Wich Flag Your Bag contest. (Pictured, left to right: Caroline, Bhavna, and Dan.) Grand prize winner Caroline, a graphic designer by trade, says she loved this contest because it got her back to her roots: drawing with pencils, pens, markers, chalk, and, of course, Sharpies! She says the design popped into her head one day while she was running. “I rely on my running for two things,” she says. “My sanity and good design ideas.”
For the Which Wich Flag Your Bag contest, guests were asked to draw their best patriotic doodles on the backs of their sandwich bags and upload pictures of the bags to our Facebook wall. We were blown away by the quality and creativity of the submissions! The competition was fierce, but it was all for a good cause (and we’re not just talking about gift cards, people): to say thank you to the U.S. troops who protect our freedom every day. The winning bags—and all others gathered from our more than 100 stores—will be sent overseas in a care package filled with cookies, brownies, and Wich Krispies. Thank you to all of the “artists” who participated and to those of you who voted. And best wiches to the troops!

Coca-Cola Freestyle Debuts at the Downtown Dallas Which Wich

Soda fans are in a dither over the new Coca-Cola Freestyle touch-screen fountain dispensers, which debuted in Dallas last month. The folks at Coca-Cola are calling this the soda fountain of the future, and it's easy to see why: the machine dispenses more than 100 regular and low-calorie beverage brands, some of which aren't available anywhere else in the United States except on the Freestyle. Among the brands represented are Coca-Cola (duh), Vault, Dasani, Hi-C, Powerade, Minute Maid, Fanta, Pibb, and Barq's. Sure, you could go ahead and drink just one--say, a Vault Red Blitz or Caffeine-free Raspberry Diet Coke--but just imagine the trillions of suicide combinations available at the push of a button! The Freestyle is a perfect match for Which Wich, where customization rules. So come see us in downtown Dallas to create your own killer combo--which soda would you pair with a Wicked?--or simply customize your sandwich and your soda.

By now you've heard about the Flag Your Bag contest. To recap: we're asking guests to draw patriotic doodles on the backs of their bags using red and blue Sharpies. Why? To honor our troops overseas. The troops will receive care packages filled with patriotic bags expressing your sentiments, along with cookies, brownies, and Wich Krispies. To enter, simply upload a photo of your decked-out bag to our Facebook wall. The photo with the most "likes" by 11:59 pm, Sunday, July 11, will receive a $500 gift card to Which Wich. Second and third place winners receive a $250 and $100 gift card, respectively. It's not too late to win!

The Club Emerges Victorious at the Which Wich Tournament in D'Iberville, Mississippi

This is why we love our Which Wich fans. On January 6, a group of wich lovers in D'Iberville, Mississippi, launched a Which Wich tournament to determine which wich is the best. After many weeks of eating and thorough documentation, the club defeated fellow finalist pork tenderloin on July 7. One of the team's bloggers, Vincent, had this to say about the winner: "The club's turkey, ham, and bacon form a sturdy meat tripod upon which to build the perfect sandwich. This Which Wich Wednesday, one team of judges went with avocado, honey mustard, and spicy mayo, while another put its faith in a generous helping of coleslaw. Either way it was a success."

But here's what America really wants to know: is Zach Galifianakis living in D'Iberville? If not, it's surely his doppelganger. But we digress. A special thanks to the dedicated Which Wich tournament participants. And, hey, nice job on that board!

Which Wich Double Meat Wicked® Gets Nicknamed "Lockjaw"

The votes are in, and the Which Wich double-meat Wicked has a new name: Lockjaw. The Wicked made sandwich history--and national headlines--when customer Chad Ettmueller dislocated his jaw while trying to bite into the behemoth at the Which Wich store in Cumming, Georgia, this past March. In response, Which Wich launched a campaign on its website to unofficially renamed the monster wich. LockJaw was the winner.

No doubt Ettmueller has been a good sport. He and his friends and family did a special reenactment on YouTube, and he's done about 60 radio interviews so far. Just today he did a follow-up interview with AOL. In fact, Ettmueller is so in love with Which Wich, he's thinking about opening a franchise.
